Overview
Uroflowmetry is a simple, non-invasive diagnostic test that measures the rate and volume of urine flow during urination. The patient voids into a special device that automatically records the flow rate over time, generating a uroflowmetry curve that helps identify abnormal voiding patterns.
The test is widely used to evaluate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) such as difficulty in urination, slow stream, urinary retention, frequency and urgency. It is an important investigation for conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urethral stricture, overactive bladder and neurogenic bladder dysfunction.
What We Do
We perform uroflowmetry with automated analysis of maximum flow rate (Qmax), average flow rate (Qave), voided volume and voiding time. Post-void residual (PVR) urine measurement by ultrasound is routinely combined with uroflowmetry for a comprehensive assessment of bladder emptying.

Come to the test with a comfortably full bladder — drink 2–3 glasses of water 1 hour before and avoid urinating for at least 1–2 hours before the test. Do not overfill the bladder to the point of discomfort.
